Reiki Class : Being a Reiki practitioner is far more than just playing a role; it is about living the teachings, and sharing the light of universal energy with others in everyday interactions and experiences. It means setting up a personal standard of conduct that reflects that you are indeed a channel of light, at all times and in all situations.

Reiki is a work of light, a work of higher awareness (Taiga-no-Inori), meant to assist an individual's life journey of coming to a place of openness (Anjin-Ryoumei).

Through the practice of Reiki, "miracles" may happen to the individuals we work with, however, these miracles are not the purpose of Reiki practice, simply the result of the natural process of coming to a place of openness. And so it is not our business as a Reiki practitioner to aim to create miracles (Shouga-no-Inori).

As a Reiki practitioner, our job is to keep our focus on holding this light of the candle up in the darkness. This involves us becoming more open and clear so that the light will resonate through us - as conduits of higher awareness - and our actions towards our surroundings. This is an act of virtue.

Aikido Class : 'The door of the universe opens and universal light shines through when collectiveness of cooperative energy is celebrated through acts inspired by the state of connectedness', this is according to Kojiki, one of the oldest texts of Japanese mythology and a great influence in the founding of Aikido. That cooperation, that intense energy, that joy...that is Aikido.

Morihei Ueshiba, O'Sensei, founded this Japanese discipline, on the profound belief that it is a vital contribution towards world peace for the individual to kokoro no sentaku (literally, "launder the self") and kokoro no tatenaoshi ("restore the self")*.

Combining a strong meditation component with Aikido practice, the focus of the class moves away from self-defense and learning how to control a person or situation. It is about being connected and developing awareness as our inner strength, not to defend, but to assist us in becoming truly who we are. The class emphasis is on being present and open while actively engaged in the movement with our partner.

Aikido is a way to express and practice cooperation. It is a celebration.
The experience is the lesson.
