Reiki Treatment: Reiki is a compassionate energy work that enhances an individual's life-long journey of coming to a place of peace (Anjin-Ryoumei). Sound grandiose and hard to grasp? To help explain, here is Aesops fable of Sun and Wind: Wind bragged to Sun of great strength, while Sun believed there was power in gentleness. As a test of strength they began a game, "Who can lift the coat off that man walking up the road?" First, Wind began by blowing. The harder Wind blew, the more the man shivered and the tighter the man gripped his coat. The wind was so strong that it almost blew the man away, instead of just the coat. Then, it was Sun's turn. Sun simply came out which warmed the air and defrosted the ground. The man on the road unbuttoned his coat. The sun grew brighter and brighter, radiating heat. Soon the man felt so hot, he took his coat off. "I lit the day through gentleness," Sun said. Like Sun's work, Reiki does not aim to make things happen or to make change, as Wind tried to do in the story above. Even if Wind were able to lift the jacket off the man by force, the man would search for another jacket, being still cold inside himself, literally and symbolically. Instead, Reiki radiates an energy, which nourishes the person emotionally and spiritually, so that the process begins from the inside-out. Reiki is not the answer to everything; not a quick problem fixer nor miracle maker. When I have had to watch my children struggle through illness or pain, I acknowledge the desire to "fix" the problem, and provide whatever concrete help I can, but ultimately (and perhaps most importantly) all I can really do is be there and be available. Often that is the role of Reiki: to be the light of a candle, hope in the darkness. When you have pain that is in your way, feel stuck or need a fresh approach, then that is the time to seek the touch of compassion. The Reiki session begins with a brief conversation of the situation/condition. Instead of approaching it as a "problem" to be fixed, it is viewed as information and functions as a guide for treatment. The treatment is then performed without any physical manipulation while the individual lays down in a comfortable and relaxed manner. $75 PER SESSION Aiki Attunement (Energy work/Meditation session): "Aiki" is a Japanese word meaning to unify with universal energy, and "attunement" means to bring in to harmony. Arigatou-gozaimasu [Gratitude] Let peace prevail within. Let peace prevail throughout. Together these words make up the Aiki Blessings, which are the foundation of Aiki Attunement and at the core of Aikido philosophy. With his energy work, Fuminori Onuma attunes the individual to Aiki Blessings while creating a safe space. The attunement is in itself an intense experience and may provide insights, inspiration, peace in the moment and in the form of the Aiki Blessings, they receive the meditation tools to go forward with this practice. Aiki Attunement's energy work is performed while participants are seated and meditating. This is open to everyone. This session is a restorative experience for couples, families, a group of friends or even colleagues. You organize the group and we will set up the sessions.
